The Pulang Araw team visited 19 Angelicum College on November 14, 2024, for the 2nd 19 AngeliCOMM Masterclass, Ang Salaysay ng Pulang Araw. Cast members Barbie Forteza, David Licauco, Jay Ortega, and Rochelle Pangilinan, along with Director Dominic Zapata and their production team, led a panel discussion on storytelling, character development, production challenges, and the show’s themes. The event, attended by 156 students from seven schools, gave participants a behind-the-scenes look at the series and a chance to interact with the team, ask questions, and take photos. The Masterclass inspired aspiring storytellers and filmmakers to explore creative ways of crafting impactful stories.

Renowned Journalist and documentary filmmaker Howie Severino conducted a masterclass titled “Baybayin…Atin Ito” on October 15, 2024, aimed at reviving the use of Baybayin, the ancient Filipino script from the Precolonial era. The event provided SHS HUMSS and GAS learners with a deeper understanding and appreciation of Baybayin. Severino shared historical insights and discussed the benefits of learning to read and write in the script, engaging the audience throughout. Learners also had the opportunity to ask questions and take photos with Mr. Severino.

Dr. Muhammad Ruslan Ramli, Visiting Professor from Universitas Esa Unggul, Indonesia, commenced his five-day International Professor Exchange at 19 Angelicum College with a formal courtesy call on Rector Rev. John Stephen Besa, O.P., joined by Director for Academic Affairs Dr. Eunice Mareth Areola and Communication Program Chairperson Dr. Glenn Reynon. Following the meeting, Dr. Ramli delivered an insightful lecture on Media Economy to Communication students, sparking discussions on the evolving media landscape. In the afternoon, he participated in a seminar led by renowned journalist and filmmaker Howie Severino, focusing on the revival of Baybayin, the ancient Filipino script. He also visited the 19 Angelicum Media Center, where he explored the institution’s facilities and engaged with students and faculty on media production practices.

19 Angelicum College held its annual procession in honor of the Blessed Virgin Mary of La Naval de Manila, featuring a display of a dozen images of Dominican saints. Learners, facilitators, and staff joined the procession, which passed through the main streets of Sto. Domingo Parish before returning to the church, where a large crowd of devotees awaited. The Feast of Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary, La Naval de Manila, commemorates the 1646 victory of Spanish and Filipino Catholic forces over the Dutch fleet.

QC Mayor Joy Belmonte and 19 Angelicum College Rector-elect Rev. Fr. John Stephen Besa, OP, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to strengthen collaboration between the local government and the institution. The agreement focuses on initiatives such as TVET scholarships for marginalized sectors, subsidized bachelor's degrees for second-chance learners, full scholarships for senior high school and higher education, industry-relevant lifelong learning, and academic partnerships in curricular review. The MOU also covers participation in relevant seminars, academic material exchange, and short-term teaching and research programs. #19Angelicum #DreamBeyond
